Mountains of Money

Making Mountains of Money
No physical summit today. I worked all day today teaching ski lessons, and by the time I drove home through the blizzard it was too late and too snowy for #summiting. I had some awesome lessons with some really fun people! My first group was a family who I made do dual slalom: kids v. parents. Kids totally won. The second lesson was a group of triathletes who totally got it, and who mostly just wanted a good workout. I happily obliged and we just went skiiing.

Happy Summiting,
Gus

Santa Summit

Last night and parts of this morning were witness to one of Reno's biggest events: The Santa Pub Crawl. I don't have a picture of myself getting a summit, but here is one of a fellow crawler getting a #santasummitsunday

Farming

Very cool to see Wilson's last post. Standing atop the podium is something I really liked to see. I can definitely relate with 15yr old Wilson.

Yesterday I got the new Far West Farm Team uniform, and I was really excited to wear it around skiing at Auburn Ski Club with the rest of the Farmers. We've decided that there are a few options for ski team chants: my favorites are "EE I EE I O" and "Farmers Hoe!". I think the Old McDonald version is perfect for cheering during races. It goes nicely alongside the "hup-hup-hup" and "Hi-yah hi-yah hi-yah" staples of the sport.

There were a couple of summits while skiing with the Farm Team yesterday:

It's a mountain. Get It?

This was the jumping hill above Auburn Ski Club and was lots of fun to ski down.

Summit Sund eh?

I spent this past weekend in Quebec City, Canada. In English speaking Canada they say eh? all the time... When I try to imitate the French speaking Quebecois I still say eh all the time... just much more aggressively and with the Quebecois accent.
Now to my actual post.

Just look through some of Gus's posts and you'll see that there are tons of different types of summits. In Quebec I watched one of my personal heroes Kikkan Randall achieve one less traditional summit... twice. On Friday Kikkan, along with Jessie Diggins, won a Cross Country Skiing World Cup Freestyle Team Sprint. Then on Saturday she won the Individual Freestyle Sprint. What North Americans fans lack in numbers we make up for in an almost obsessive passion for the sport - the atmosphere was incredible. Getting to experience the first World Cup *WIN* on North American soil for a woman from the United States was certainly a "summit" for me.

If you find yourself timetraveling in the next little while - feel free to tell 15 year old Wilson that in 2012 future Wilson stands on the top step of a world cup podium in Quebec - he'll be stoked.

Christmas Ornament

It's a cold, rainy day on this first Sunday in December, and what better way to spend it than by decorating a Christmas Tree with an ornament for #summitsunday. 'Tis the season. Whether or not I'm an angel is yet to be decided, but I've been trying real hard to be on the nice list.
