Second Sea-level Summit Sunday

I spent this past weekend with the Bates Nordic Ski Team at Acadia National Park. The fall colors were gone, but it is still a gorgeous area to hike.

The day started out quickly with Mount Nurembega (sp?) formerly known as Mount Brown. We had a solid two hours ahead, so we didn't even stop for photos.
Though not a summit, this 1920s bridge (out in the middle of nowhere) is outrageous

Past the bridge, we summited Mount Hadlock and another whose name I cannot remember. From there we back tracked onto Hadlock.

The downhills were super treacherous, slippery steep granite, and the other guys dropped me on each one.

From Hadlock we headed up onto Sargent (~1300')

From this angle it doesn't really look like a peak, but Sargent is one of the tallest mountains in the Park

Our next and final summit for the day, Penobscot, had a fantastic view of the ocean.

Happy Summiting

  1. Pretty much, it was an old carriage bridge that serves no purpose now and is in the middle of the woods.
